What is there to do?
Hey guys! I just started recently and am wondering about some stuff. First of all, I am a level 10 Elementalist, what else is there to do besides just quest quest and quest?
Another question is, how do people get the godly gear? Like what is the best gear and how do you get it? |

If you just recently started, and are level 10, you can check out the 1-10 pvp arena's, not sure where you started, so cant tell you where to go.
There is no "best gear", it just depends on what you like, for an elementalist, i beleive the max is 65, which again, depending on which continent you are on, is acheived in a different place. Armor is just based on looks after you get the max. |

One thing about GW that I really like is that it isn't about who has the most gold that determines if and when you can get the best gear. Depending on what campaign(s) you have, you can get the best armor and weapons available virtually for free - you fight some monsters/enemies, collect a few trinkets (trophies) and turn them in for the armor and weapons. Your other option, which is very easily accomplished, is to get some raw materials by finding them, buying them, or salvaging them form dropped items, and buy basic (but max) armor for a total of 5K gold, and max stat weapons can be gotten in many places for about 5K as well. Hope that helps and welcome to GW. BTW, the game really only opens up once you get to level 20. The campaign you are playing determines just how quickly you get there... |

Bosses in Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the North, and certain areas of Prophecies can drop unique "green" weapons, shields, and focuses, which are simply unmoddable Req 9 items that do max damage and have a predetermined set of maxed mods. (Note - in NF and Factions, there are bosses in the beginning areas that drop non-max greens) Also, bosses have a better chance of dropping rare items. As far as what to do other than PvP, there are a lot of titles you can try to earn for various in-game achievements. For example, there are titles for beating all of the missions in a campaign with the bonus goal, for capturing all the elite skills in a campaign, for opening a lot of chests, for identifying a lot of rare items, and for drinking a lot of alcohol (<--- ^^) There are also a handful of difficult, "elite" PvE areas that tend to drop better, rarer, and more valuable items and offer experienced players a real challenge. (In Proph, the elite area is Sorrow's Furnace, and also the Underworld and the Fissure of Woe, which are accessible from all campaigns). Finally, after you beat the final mission in a campaign, you can go back and play any area of that campaign on "Hard Mode", which essentially increases the numbers, power, level, and speed of all the monsters in a given area in return for dropping MUCH better loot. Hard Mode is a challenge for even the best players, and offers replayability of areas you've already cleared in normal mode. Oh, and don't forget the massive numbers of side quests offered throughout the game as you progress, and the ability to create a new character and play through the game again as a different class. (While the story is the same, the gameplay varies enormously between classes) Last edited by Fury Incarnate; Dec 01, 2007 at 05:18 AM // 05:18.. |

Combat gets a LOT more exciting and complex later in the game. Trust me, you won't be killing stuff with a few wand hits anymore.
You get better gear buy killing higher level monsters. Since you gradually are introduced to tougher monsters as you go through the storyline, you will slowly get better equipment by just playing through the missions and the story arc. |

That 1.5 max armor you purchased is WAY above anything anyone outside of the elite can afford, just that all the human players out there are amongst the "elite". Heck, even the elite amongst the elite can only pay for more expensive skins, not better equipment (and that isn't that hard to get, LOTS of people running around in FoW armor - the most expensive in the game). There really isn't near the "amount to do" in other MMORPG's (assuming you consider killing the same thing over and over and over as "something to do") - what you are normally grinding for is easy to obtain. For many of us that is why we like the game, if you like actually playing the game then you are free to do that all you want and there is more "fun" content in this game than others (others focus more on grind content). Even a large portion of the "grind" can be completed by doing the "fun" content if you so choose. |

Once you get more into the game you can do ab, gvg and all this other kind of pvp stuff that is more fun than quest, quest, mission, quest quest and so on. There is a storyline its the skits you get to see after doing a mission. There is no point in getting like 30 armor for an ele, just save up and get max armor.

Also, if your party dies in a mission, you don't get to keep going at a reserection shrine. You have to start over.
Click on that link RPGmaniac gave you. The key difference between GW and other MMOs is there actually is a plot, and not just all random quests and dungeons. |

As others have said above, you are probably not doing the missions. Check here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Cooperative_Mission |

I did that too
I was so used to WoW, that I always looked for NPCs to do quests. I was a level 10 before I learned to enter missions. The button is right on the screen in mission areas!!! I really felt like a newb when I found out. I had to run all the missions and some past Yak. It is so much easier to do a mission to get to a new location than to wander around trying to find a way to the next city.
